Mike is the author of two successful method books on the art of reharmonizing jazz standards for the guitar. The Contemporary Chord Solos books one and two are published by the HAL LEONARD corporation, and have sold over one hundred thousand copies worldwide over the last twenty years.

The CD “BACKTRACKS” is the first of series, and a collection of jazz standards featuring a hard-swinging rhythm section minus a lead solo instrument. 

The sole purpose of this work is to provide the aspiring jazz soloist with a rhythm section accompaniment to practice their craft.  The six “up tempo” tracks feature a slow “click track with chords” section for preparation before playing with the actual track.   The music for these “play along” tracks can be found in THE NEW REAL BOOK.
